The Use Of NCat in Education
The Use Of NCat in EducationNCat tutoring is a unique and effective method of teaching computers. NCP refers to non-computing classroom tutoring, for the purpose of enhancing learning potential in subjects that cannot be adequately mastered by way of software and the computer. This is to achieve the goal of providing educational opportunities to children of all ages, even though they may not have access to computers. It can also apply to students who do not have access to the internet.A child without access to the internet is unable to have access to the computer programs that are available online. As a result, they cannot reach the level of success that their peers with the help of computers do. However, with NCP, children are able to learn new things with their teachers, with the added benefit of being able to interact with other students as well. The scope of the techniques is broad and can provide tools that enable students to learn from a teacher at the pace that they can. And w ith the advancement of technology, it's also becoming easier for children to become teachers themselves through the use of the Internet. With computers, the new students are able to expand their horizons, whilst their older counterparts learn computer programs and data entry. When computer tutors started, they were allowed only to teach students who did not have access to computers. With the advancement of technology, computer tutors have been expanded to include students who have access to computers. For example, they are able to teach students who may not have ever seen a mouse or a telephone. They are able to help them get acquainted with some of the latest technology, and help them use the tools as well. Computers provide a fantastic resource for these students, since the education program can be used to help children who have a more direct relationship with the computer than their peers.Computer tutoring has found it's way into many education programs. There are numerous schools, which now provide a computer tutoring program. A comprehensive approach to teaching and learning through teaching methods, software and in addition, games, provides an alternative to traditional teaching methods. Instead of the teachers sitting in a classroom, making their way through one lesson after another, they have the flexibility to go through the teaching program while interacting with students.Even though this approach to teaching has become quite popular, there are still a number of different schools that only use classroom tutoring. Therefore, there is a need for an NCP to be implemented at schools, so that children who do not have access to computers can still learn. Learning is never easy, but in this instance, the challenge is to ensure that a child who may be outside the mainstream, can still learn. In the past, teachers were able to study the needs of their students, and have tried to find out what methods were most effective in order to make learning a more fruitful experience. But with the advent of the NCP, the task of ensuring that every student is provided with the greatest possible opportunity to learn has become easier. Therefore, a computer tutoring program provides an opportunity for the classroom to be utilized in a different manner, allowing students to focus on areas that may not be used to teach in the traditional way.NCP can be applied at various levels. For example, it may be used in homeschooling programs, so that the teacher is provided with the opportunity to go through a tutorial for a particular subject, or a specific lesson that they may be given.

4 Differences Between High School and College English Courses - TutorNerds
4 Differences Between High School and College English Courses - TutorNerds 4 differences between high school and college English courses By the time students reach their freshman year of college, they will have already taken four separate English courses. It likely seems that students know everything there is to know at this point, but once students reach the college level most of the old rules go out the window. There are several differences between high school and college English courses of which most notably is the time and independence required. If students can prepare for these differences, theyre more likely to do well in their challenging university-level classes our Orange County private high school and college English tutors are here to help. 1. The 5 paragraph essay By the end of high school students will be pros when it comes to writing a five-paragraph essay. In fact, it seems that the whole world must be written in five paragraphs because this particular format is given such emphasis throughout a studentâs high school experience. Unfortunately, most college professors disregard this format almost straight away. This can be a tough sell for students who have molded their writing to fit within five paragraphs since they were a freshman. However, getting away from this format is a great thing for students and allows more independent thought as well as the ability to write about whats important rather than trying to meet a specific word count. Most college papers have a required word count range allowing student writers to get an idea of their scope of work without being too strict or limiting. 2. Scholarly works cited College students will be utilizing scholarly sources to a much higher degree than they did in high school. Its important for students to familiarize themselves with the campus library and know how to tell the difference between a scholarly journal and a basic credible source. This can be more difficult these days because almost everything is found online, making it harder to distinguish between a scholarly article and a basic one. Students should start by looking for an abstract and an author with three letters after their name to help them get an idea if theyre on the right track (READ: 5 Things That Can Ruin Your Study Time). 3. More time, more revisions In general, high school students will have to write a rough draft and final draft when it comes to essay writing. However, once they get into college, they may find that theyre writing four or more drafts before they create something they can turn in to the professor. Students often need to change their thesis once they start doing extensive research or may find that their original idea was either too broad or too narrow. This means a lot more effort on the part of the student as well as excellent time management skills. Students are given three or four weeks to complete their essay from start to finish, but they will likely need the majority of this time to deal with those extra drafts. 4. Complex thought processes In high school, students mainly work on an analytical essay or an argumentative one and often take a position on one extreme or the other. Once at university, students will be asked to look at several different sides of an argument and perhaps come up with a thesis that lies within the gray area of the two opposing opinions. This requires a much more complex thought process and can certainly be mentally fatiguing. Students working all hours of the night will often find that the ideas dont come to them as quickly as they wanted. Its a good idea for students to carve out a specific time in their schedule or work with a study group where they can brainstorm for different ideas. How to Build A Business Before You Graduate
How to Build A Business Before You Graduate Photo via Celestine Chua on Flickr. The Ideal Time to Start a Business The idea of building a multi-billion dollar business in college actually wasnt the original idea Mark Zuckerberg had in mind when he started The Facebook during his sophomore year of college. In fact, the site began as a simple dating platform, and was something Zuckerberg created into the wee night hours in his dorm room and between classes at Harvard University. He simply didnt let the fact that he was a still a student deter him from building the base of his business, which has now turned into one of the largest social media platforms of the modern age. Believe it or not, your college years are the ideal time to begin building a business. At first glance, it may seem like the opposite is true due to the pressing issues of class workload, athletics and your part-time job, but take a moment to think about the time you do have. At this point, many of your expenses are being paid through Federal loans, scholarships, grants and/or parent contributions. This leaves, remarkably, tons of free time available to begin working on the basics of a business, since many of your living expenses have been taken care of without the need of a full-time job. The important thing to remember is that if you want to be an entrepreneur, you can. Dont fall into the trap of thinking you have to follow tradition when it comes to college and career. As Brandon Anderson, owner of Transportation Supply, stated in an article, junior year I had many friends attending career fairs and competing for internships at companies where they would hope to be offered a position their senior year. While this seemed like the road to follow, I knew that I had different passions for my future, Anderson said. There are several steps you can take to start pursuing an idea for a business, with little to no cost involved. Step One: Start Networking Another reason college is the ideal time and place to start a business is because its essentially a networking melting pot full of educators, professionals and a student body ready to give feedback and tips regarding your idea. Take the story of Nate Robert, John Reynolds, Chris Benson and Tyler Wortman, 2013 seniors attending MIT, who effectively started the implementation of a project and model for beer distribution (now named Glydsedale) while still attending their university. âThe MIT network, mainly through the Trust Center but outside it as well, was absolutely amazing and is the only reason weâve been able to find the successes we have, Nate said in an article featured on Forbes. âWhen we first started, we had absolutely no idea what to do! We reached out to our networks and talked to everyone we thought might be able to help.â Reach out to professors and departments that relate to your business idea and discuss it with them. It would be best to draw up some type of business plan (or at least a rough overview) of what your business is looking to provide as well as how you plan to provide it. For instance, is your service or product going to be offered online or in-person on campus? Find a Niche for Your Idea Sometimes, networking with other professionals (and even friends) ends up offering different perspectives regarding your idea, taking it from a potentially broad, abstract idea and pulling it into a niche. Daniel Vitiello, during his junior year at Texas Tech University, launched an iPhone repair business after a friend asked him to fix her phone, according to an article via U.S. News Weekly. Vitiello had previously described himself as a household handyman, but after realizing his skill at fixing iPhones, went on to start charging less than competing shops in the area and began fixing roughly 10 phones per day, at $40 a pop. He now works full-time developing his business, United iPhone Repair. Vitiello is an example of a student honing his handyman skills into a profitable niche, before he even receives a degree. A simple way to do this is to consider opportunities relating to your idea that provide a service to other students, or perhaps even consider offering teaching or tutoring services. Say, for example, youre a whiz at Photoshop or have a personal photography collection that rivals what you can find in most magazines; you can effectively start a small business offering photography and one-on-one Photoshop tutorials for profit. This not only builds your business and puts cash in your pocket, but it also helps other students pursue their dreams of photography, or any other medium you find yourself teaching. Carve Out Time This is perhaps one of the most critical steps you can take in your business-building venture: carving out the time needed to make it succeed. Businesses require marketing, social media networking and the time of actually working your business. However, if you are passionate about an idea, this time will merely be a reflection of your passion, and will be well worth the sacrifice in the end. These tips from various entrepreneurs can give you an idea of how to make time: Multitask An excellent way to create more time for yourself while juggling classes and building your business is to multitask efficiently. This may involve sending out emails in between studying or at lunch, or making phone calls during your walk to the gym. However, be sure to know which tasks to devote your full attention to, as too much multitasking can result in a decrease in quality if executed poorly. Create To-Do Lists To-do lists are very effective, especially when theyre placed in sight of your working area. In order to make these more effective, consider prioritizing your lists, arranging tasks in order of importance for the day. Take Breaks Really, take a break. Studies have shown taking regular, intermittent breaks can improve creativity and productivity, and according to University of Illinois psychology professor Alejandro Lleras, Constant stimulation is registered by our brains as unimportant, to the point that the brain erases it from our awareness. This shows that paying attention to tasks for too long can negatively affect our concentration, and force our brains into perceiving them as unimportant. It is also important that while you are taking this break, that you really take it, and try to relax your mind while doing something totally unrelated to what youre working on, such as going for a jog or cooking up a meal. Mark Zuckerberg isnt the only entrepreneur known for starting his business in a dorm room; many notable individuals, such as Michael Dell, founder of Dell Inc., and Frederick W. Smith, founder of FedEx, launched their businesses while still attending college. It isnt necessary to set out with a goal of creating a multi-million dollar company (although this kind of positivity cant hurt!) during your college years, but it is important to realize what it is you want out of your life. Do you see yourself at a 9 to 5 desk job, following the same monotonous routine for years, or do you see yourself pursuing your potential idea and developing it into a profitable, passionate business endeavor? If your heart is whispering the latter, remember: the time is now. Run your own business, get control of your future, make an impact on your life. 3 Times to Opt for Food Delivery
3 Times to Opt for Food Delivery Image via Pexels With all the advancements in technology, ordering take-out is as easy as downloading an app and selecting what you want or ordering online- you donât even have to talk to a real person to get food (at a point, this was awesome for someone like me who had phone anxiety). Thereâs no worry about managing the food on the stove, a pot of pasta boiling over, or chicken tenders burning in the oven. Rather, you get delicious, hot food straight to your door without having to lift a finger (well, besides physically having to carry the bag of food that is)! To go back to my statement from earlier, there are plenty of occasions when we all opt for delivery instead of cooking meals ourselves. You may be thinking to yourself, âAlicia, what is a good excuse to order delivery?â Firstly, there is absolutely no bad excuse to order delivery in my book. However, if youâre looking for a few solid reasons to opt for takeout instead of a home cooked meal, these are my top three reasons: 1. Late-Night Class Only once in my whole time in college did I have a night class. The class ran from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. and I absolutely hated it, it threw my whole schedule off terribly. I function best during the daytime so you can imagine how having to retain information and participate in class at 8 oâclock went. On top of having to worry about my presence in class, I had to worry about what to have for dinner. My schedule was super packed the day I had a night class so if I had dinner before class, it was small and not nearly enough to keep me full for the next two hours. If you have a night class and are stuck for time before/after class, order something off of GrubHub and call it a night! There is no shame in being exhausted after a long day of class and not wanting to cook for yourself, itâs ok! I wouldnât suggest doing this every day because youâll not only become unhealthy, but youâll also drain your wallet fairly quickly and us college kids canât afford that! Image via Pexels 2. Swamped with Assignments We all know the struggle of having just too many assignments to complete at once. Thereâs a quiz tomorrow to study for, a discussion board due at midnight, an essay outline due Friday, and a lab thatâs past due. For many of us, these sort of days come more often than not which can leave us on the brink of a breakdown. Due to the stress, its easy to neglect yourself in the process and forget to drink/eat decent meals. When you have a pile of work to complete, youâre not going to stop for anything, which means youâre definitely not going to be willing to cook a hearty meal for yourself. During these moments, let loose and order takeout! Donât feel bad about what you order or beat yourself up about not being self-sufficient (because Iâve definitely had these conversations with myself in my head). Make it easy for yourself and find something yummy to order on your phone/online so you can get back to work! 3. Working Way Past 9-5 Some of us have jobs that are past the normal working hours of 9am-5pm. Along with classes, working late can take a huge toll on your stress and energy levels, which makes you wanting something easy and quick to satisfy your hunger cravings. When working late on top of other obligations, go ahead and order that plate of cheese fries and nachos and relax in the fact that youâll have minimal dishes to clean once youâre done! Though I wouldnât suggest ordering out all the time, there are definitely occasions where it there are completely legitimate reasons to do so. Whether itâs a weird class schedule, a heavy workload, or a late-night shift, getting food delivered to you makes for a less stressful and smoother night.
What Is Childlife Tutoring?
What Is Childlife Tutoring?Childlife tutoring can be very important in order to help a child deal with problems and obstacles that can cause tension in their life. Many parents are unaware of the importance of this particular type of teaching and instead, they are willing to use traditional approaches that aren't necessary for child care to ensure that they teach their children right.Childcare lessons should include a number of important things. First, it is important to realize that parents can't expect their children to be confident in themselves when they haven't been taught how to handle certain situations. Many times, children may think that there's no way that they can solve a problem and therefore, they don't need help. This is the wrong approach and you shouldn't encourage them to think this way. It is extremely important to let your child know that they can succeed no matter what.To do this, you must get involved in what your child is doing. You need to know how to take a chi ld through something and you also need to realize that sometimes they are going to have a hard time and this is fine. You have to realize that you cannot allow the child to be discouraged or otherwise, this can cause them to lose motivation and therefore they may not do well in school.Your child needs to understand that the only way they are going to learn is if they ask for help. If they just assume that they can deal with anything and they don't ask for help, they will continue to feel bad about themselves and this can affect their ability to succeed in the future. Remember that at the end of the day, you have to help your child to become as confident as possible. There are many different types of teaching that can be done to help with this issue. You can also use special arts classes or even you can take the traditional methods and this type of learning will go well with the children's ability. Childcare tutoring can be effective and have a positive impact on your child.Overall, y ou should see that you should make sure that you are ready to help your child. This is one thing that can be incredibly difficult, but the results that you get from it can mean a lot. Childcare tutoring can be essential in helping to teach children to succeed in school and to prevent any of the negative behaviors that they are experiencing in the meantime.

10 Steps Towards Career Development Without the Politics - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / 10 Steps Towards Career Development Without the Politics - Introvert Whisperer 10 Steps Towards Career Development Without the Politics The desire for career development and advancement is perfectly normal. We all want to live a better lifestyle and career development could be the key. People naturally want to learn, grow, and progress. Unfortunately, in todays market career advancement opportunities often arise as an outcome of office politics rather than true merit. While you cant completely ignore the politics of your organization, there are steps you can take to advance your career without getting too involved. Here are a few top recommendations: 1. Request Feedback Feedback is a great tool for learning the needs of an organization. It is also an opportunity to connect with your manager who might ultimately make decisions about your next career move. Youll have the opportunity to gain insight on both yourself and the future of the organization without feeling manipulative or political. 2. Ignore the Negatives Office politics often involve bad mouthing or belittling. Many people who feel threatened by a co-worker will intentionally try to sabotage any relationship or advancement. Instead of getting involved in this bullying battle, let your work do the talking and avoid making criticisms of others. 3. Give Credit People thrive on recognition and feedback. One of the best things you can do to gain an upper hand without manipulating others is to offer credit where credit is due. If someone on your team does a great job, make sure you publicly (and privately) acknowledge this work. If your team feels supported, theyre much more likely to be a cheerleader for you as you pursue your next move. 4. Act as a Team Player Another way to earn recognition at work without engaging in politics is to lend a helping hand in times of need. If you always step up to help in difficult situations youll be viewed as a team player and a creative thinker. Youll receive positive attention and will be remembered when it comes time to promote. 5. Identify a Mentor Mentorship is another great route for career advancement. Finding a mentor outside of work allows you to network with people that can help you make new connections. This strategy helps you avoid the politics of the office while still working towards your long-term goals. Youll also be able to gain insight from another industry that might help in your current situation. 6. Research the Industry No matter what your role, you play a key part in the companys success. Gaining a working knowledge of the industrys trends and challenges is always a great idea as you navigate your career. This research will allow you to make connections and speak eloquently with executive leadership. If you are able to demonstrate youre understanding of the industry and are able to solve a problem for the company, youre more than likely going to have a seat at the table when it comes time for a promotion. 7. Seek Training Opportunities Continuing education is another great way to advance your career. Whether this comes in the form of an informal training, graduate school, or obtaining a certification, adding credentials to your resume is always a great way to prove your commitment and your willingness to learn and grow. This shows initiative and demonstrates that youre not expecting a free ride up the ladder. 8. Socialize with Other Departments This move will avoid the office drama and will also allow you to gain new perspectives. Most employees get so bogged down with their own work that they fail to understand the contributions of other departments. Taking the time to socialize with other departments will not only allow you to get a 360 view of the company, but it might also uncover new interests that could open the door for your next career move. Take the time to talk to people without manipulating them and you will see some great results. 9. Take Time to Volunteer Volunteering is another great way to network and make new connections. Some employers even make new hires based on their volunteer work. Youll experience how non-profits operate and will demonstrate your good and giving nature. Youll be able to add this experience to your resume and youll make lots of new connections along the way. 10. Share Your Successes While it may seem political to brag about your successes, it can be a major mistake not to share your work with your manager. If they have no idea what youre doing, then you definitely wont be in the mix when it comes to promotions. Consider forwarding any complimentary emails you receive, or sharing a portfolio of your work each quarter. This ensures youll be at the forefront of their mind and will demonstrate initiative and organization. These are just a few of the many ways you can work on career development without engaging in too much obvious politicking. While its impossible not to engage in some office politics, youll want to focus your energy internally. Do your best to learn and grow in ways that will help you make moves. The leaders of your organization will take notice of your intrinsic motivation and may just add you to the mix for the next advancement opportunity. 5 Reasons We Fear Career Change (and What to Do About It) - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / 5 Reasons We Fear Career Change (and What to Do About It) - Introvert Whisperer 5 Reasons We Fear Career Change (and What to Do About It) Youâre a leader, right? Doesnât that mean youâre fearless? Maybe on some things, but the prospect of changing careers has stopped you cold. You probably donât admit this to very many people. Is this you? It would seem weâre more comfortable seeking divorce from our spouse than divorce from our job. (Like this thought? Tweet it!) The divorce rate is certainly much higher than the voluntary turnover rate (when you leave by your own choice). If this is the year youâre finally going to make this important, life-changing decision (career change, not divorce), here are some reasons you may be feeling that fear and what you can do about it. You donât have to wait any longer. 1. Fear of the Unknown You know you need a change, but at this point, you have no clue what youâre going to do. As a result, youâre left inside your own head conjuring up a thousand possible things that could go wrong. Fix: Remember that you control your thinking. When these thoughts enter your head, simply tell yourself you donât yet know enough to have anything to fear. Brush off this unknown boogieman. 2. Fear You Wonât Like Where Youâre Headed You might not like where youâve been, and even if you do, we grow very fond of our job situation simply because we at least know what weâre dealing with. Fix: Vow that your new career exploration will include plenty of investigation so you know exactly what to expect. Far too many people donât do the work they need to in order to fully understand the career theyâre headed to. This is an easy fix, as long as you do the work. 3. Fear of Lost Income Youâd be starting over again, right? You couldnât possibly take a pay cut; you have too many things dependent on your income. Besides, youâd feel personally deflated by a loss of income. Fix: Figure out the very least you could live on for a few years and make that your cutoff point. Not all career changes mean you have to take a pay cut. Donât make assumptions until youâve done your homework and research. 4. Fear of Retooling Yourself Youâre making the assumption that to make a change, you need to go back to school. You might feel like itâs too late, or maybe you donât want to invest your time at this point. Fix: Remember that when youâre on the journey to decide your new career, you can pick a whole list of criteria for what would constitute a good next step. Just like income, if you know youâre not equipped for school anymore, make that part of your criteria for selection. Most jobs donât require a specific degree. Certification programs exist that are usually short in duration, if that makes sense for the direction youâre taking. 5. Fear of Not Knowing What to Do Next You donât really even know the first step youâd take to figure out what to do next. Do you go apply for jobs that sound good? Fix: First, step away from the resume. Changing careers by doing a job search usually results in massive disappointment. You might âfindâ something, but usually you donât find something you love. Deciding on a career is a journey of investigation, research and exploration. You wonât figure out a new career by sitting on the couch or in your office. You also need to possess a good measure of patience as this wonât be an overnight discovery. Make a career change this year and start the exploration now. You deserve to have a career you love.
